"Ladies in Black" Female Sale Report


Rain greeted the buyers at the O’Sullivan family’s “Ladies in Black” Limousin female sale, held on-

property “Gunnadoo” Lower Mount Walker, QLD.


With 2021 marking 30 years of involvement with the Limousin breed, Mick and Sandy O’Sullivan

opened their Black Limousin cow herd offering access to every registered female.


Buyers from all three eastern states capitalised on the opportunity to add quality black poll Limousin

females to their programs.


The Evans family of Jen-Daview Limousins, Kingaroy parted with the top money of $8000 for their

pick OSullivans Black Pearl L27, a five year old daughter of OSullivans Hayne Plane H18 pregnancy

tested in calf to herd sire Summit Masterplan L27.


Fox River Pastoral, Hope Island purchased a three year old daughter of the top price female

OSullivans Black Pearl P20 who was sired by Summit Masterplan L27 for $7000.


Not to be outdone Brad & Jodie Frohloff, BJF Limousin, Yarraman also paid $7000 for their top

selection a six year old matron OSullivans Black Pearl K31, a Wulfs Uppermost 6196U daughter who

has previously been in the OSullivans donor pen.


Amongst the heifers, Governor’s Choice Winery, Athol paid to a top of $6500 for their pick

OSullivans Black Pearl Q53 a maternal sister to the top price female sired by Summit Masterplan L27.


While Chris Meade of Pelican Rise Limousins, Colac, Vic paid $6000 for the Opportunity to Flush

OSullivans Black Pearl H11 the dam of both the top price cow and heifer.


In the breakdown, five “Pick of Pair” lots sold to $8000 to average $5900, 2 “Opportunity to Flush”

lots sold for an average of $5500, 41 individual female lots sold to a top of $7000 for an average of

$4,134, and 6 “Sire Prospects” sold to a top of $8000 to average $6583.


BJF Limousin led the volume buyers putting together a draft of 14 in total paying to a top of $7000

for an average of $4500.


Geoff O’Meara, Beaudesert worked his average to secure five females for an average of $3500,

paying a top of $4000 twice.


Jen-Daview Limousins put together four females for an average of $5125.


While Governor’s Choice Winery secured four heifers to a top of $6500 for an average of $4875.


Long term OSullivans clients the Macallister Family, Roma Downs, Roma secured four bulls to go into

their Brangus based breeding herd paying to a top of $8000 twice to average $7250.


Speaking after the sale OSullivans principal Mick O’Sullivan was pleased with the result “it is great to

see our females go into a number of Limousin herds not only in Queensland but into the other eastern

states”


“Perhaps, what is the most thrilling is to see of our previous bull clients come back and purchase

some really good females” he said.


“Make no mistake we will continue to breed Limousin cattle, but we are excited to see how our

genetics perform in other herds” Mr O’Sullivan concluded.
