COWHERD
We firmly believe cow families are the backbone of any herd; all great breeding bulls come from great cow families. Therefore when dispersing the famous Kensal herd we bought back daughters and embryos of the very best cows from the best families to start a small but elite stud herd under the OSullivans banner.
Pearl family
The Pearl family, which was bred from the best Angus cows in the Kensal Green herd of the 1970`s, is one of the most highly regarded cow families in the Limousin breed. Several Pearl cows have had outstanding show careers, including Q107, R265, R204, V27, Z02, Z09, Z30, D02 who are all Royal Show Champions, but most impressive is the number stud sires, out of Pearl cows, in herds across the country, including Mississippi, Quick Fix, Quinalow, Run Out, Regulator, Thunder Down Under, Xceed, Zeno, Zillman, Yeppoon, All Good, Academy, Brigadier, Charleville, Evening Star, Glenfinick, Hayne Plane etc.
Moonbeam family
The Moonbeam family has had great success with Z03 being supreme exhibit Sydney 2008, A15 a multiple Royal show champion and F07 champion female Ekka 2014. Stud sires from this family include Back In Black, Corvette and Genuine Article.
Fifi family
The Fifi family stems from one of the great French pure cows of yesteryear Colian Park Fifi. We have bred a black poll cow family from a daughter P17, who is a flush sister to dual Royal Show All Breed Champion bull Kayenbe Phantom. Stud sires from this family include Xample, Always A Gentleman and Every Which Way.
Fancy family
The Fancy family also derives from a great French pure line. Our branch goes back to P317 a black poll cow who won champion cow at Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide Royals. The famous Vegemite Kid along with Aussie Gentleman, Archer, Braveheart, Bli Bli Kid, Bandino and Eltham Alabama are stud sires from the Fancy line.
FUTURE SIRES
We are continually on the search for the next bull that can have a positive impact on our herd and influence our herd into the future. We search Limousin herds throughout Australia and Internationally for genetics we believe can drive genetic gain within our cowherd. In 2010 we toured the US in search of a sire, we saw Uppermost as a 2-yr old along with his first calves, his mother and grandmother, and were lucky enough to secure the Australian rights to him.
